American Gilsonite

DA Smith completed a multi-hole mud rotary exploration drilling program for American Gilsonite at the Bonanza Mine in Bonanza, Utah. The program was undertaken to measure continuation of the gilsonite resource at depth below current underground mining levels. The gilsonite occurs as nearly vertical dikes within a sedimentary host, where hydrocarbon-rich fluids solidified into a hard, glossy black natural asphaltite. Angle drilling up to 30 degrees off vertical was conducted to intercept the dikes at depth. Holes were drilled NQ to depths of 700 feet. Downhole geophysical logging was completed by American Gilsonite.
